NENSA U16 Championships

The NENSA U16 Championships began modestly in 1992 has grown into one of the highlights of the season for junior athletes. New York and each New England state can qualify their fastest 24 – U16 (ages 14-15) boys and girls. Four races take place over 2 1/2 days. Seeded wave starts ensure match racing at its finest. This event will typically see invited entries from other regions within the US and Canada.

Event Schedule:

Friday, March 9

  • 12-12:30pm Coaches pick up bibs and racer packets at Tannery Pond Community Center (228 Main St, North Creek, NY 12853)
  • 12:30-1:15pm  Bib pickup moves to Ski Bowl Lodge at Gore Mountain Nordic Center
  • 1:15pm  Coaches Meeting- Tannery Pond Community Center 
  • 3pm  Girls 5k Freestyle Race (waves of 6/minute)
  • 4pm  Boys 5k Freestyle Race (waves of 6/minute)
  • 5pm  Podium Ceremony for Freestyle Races

Saturday, March 10

  • 9:30am  Girls 5k Classic Race (waves of 6/minute)
  • 10:30am  Boys 5k Classic Race (waves of 6/minute)
  • Lunch
  • 2pm  Girls 1.25k Freestyle Sprint Race (waves of 6/minute)
  • 2:30pm  Boys 1.25k Freestyle Sprint Race (waves of 6/minute)
  • 6:30pm  Dinner Banquet (Gore Mountain Base Lodge)
  • 7:45pm  Individual Awards

Sunday, March 11

  • 8-9am  Coaches pick up bibs in Ski Bowl Lodge at Gore Mountain Nordic Center
  • 10am  4x3k Mixed Relay - Girl Classic, Boy Classic, Girl Skate, Boy Skate
  • Noon  Podium Ceremony for Relay Teams and State Overall Awards
