About Your Instructor, Dawn Scannell

"Some of my earliest memories are of creating art and can’t imagine my life without it. I fully believe that there is an artist in all of us and that we just need to tickle that inner artist out and let them play.

I went to Green Mountain College for Fine Art. Then went on to Bridgewater University to major in Fine Art, with a minor in Psychology. My life took it's own course, and it wasn't until the pandemic hit, in that unknown chaos of lockdown, that I found myself no longer willing to ignore the pull of the easel. I ordered watercolor paints and supplies, and never looked back.

I found my way to plein air painting, and the challenge of painting outside is where my biggest growth spurts as an artist happen. While watercolor remains my medium of choice for plein air painting, my studio work also includes gouache, acrylics, and oils.
