About Boating Safely (ABS)

April 14

Saturday | 8:30am to 5pm | Queensbury Campus

Everyone born after May 1, 1996 must have a boater license to operate any boat in New York State. This basic power boat and Personal Watercraft (PWC) class will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary boating safety certificate for motorboat and Personal Watercraft operation. This course meets the boating safety education requirements for the state of New York. Many insurance companies recognize the certificate for discounts on boat insurance.

Operators may not operate a Personal Watercraft (Jet Ski,® Sea-Doo,® etc.) unless they are at least 14 years of age and hold a boater safety certificate issued by the USCG Auxiliary for having completed an eight-hour, classroom-based course of instruction. Participants must attend all eight hours in order to qualify for the certificate which is issued at the end of class after passing the final exam. Students under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
