Trolling the deep cold waters of Lake George aboard a cruiser with downriggers is great sport, but don't underestimate the fishing excitement and action that can be had on a pontoon boat fishing trip. Fishing for Memorial Day Holiday on Lake George

The fishing season on Lake George so far has been excellent. As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, fishing should be very good. The trout is starting to head to deeper waters and the bass is moving into the shallows so there will be something for everyone to enjoy. A week of great fishing on Lake George

Lake George fishing continues to be excellent. This past week , the Highliner had some picture perfect fishing days with calm waters, comfortable temps and lots of hungry fish. Billy Bischoff and his son, Hunter boated some very nice fish this week as well as did Will Haiback and his son, Owen and pal Mark. Dick Pescke and his son, David also reeled in some very respectable fish. Mike Thompson and James Sigler had lots of fun on their first Highliner charter as well. I think perhaps the most fun was had by Dave Moody and his pals as they celebrated Dave's bachelor party on board the Highliner. The fish were biting, the brewskies were flowing and lots of laughs were had by all. Best of luck to you, Dave. These were just a few of the great trips. Fishing has been excellent and will continue to be strong through May . The forecast all this week and into the weekend looks terrific, so book yourself a charter and enjoy a relaxing day on the Queen of America's lakes, Lake George. Fishing and Hunting on Lake George

Spring is a special time of year when we can grab our shotguns and head into the woods before first light in pursuit of the majestic Tom Turkey. It's also special because by eleven a.m. we can be back on the water chasing salmon and lakers. We like to call it a morning of casting and blasting. That's exactly what Billy Tedesco did this past weekend. Billy is an avid sportsman . He has landed scores of fish from the waters of New York state including a nine pound large mouth. Billy has fished on board the Highliner on several occasions and has caught more than his share of big fish. He also spent several nights last fall in my remote tent camp on a bear and deer hunt. Billy used a bow on that hunt. Needless to say, billy took part in his first pre season youth turkey hunt this past weekend. Of course, Billy got his bird. Two big barrels up to you Billy! You are the man.

Remember, take a kid fishing or hunting and you can change a life forever. Billy will tell you, take them casting and blasting.

Cool Temps- Hot Fishing on Lake George

7 Lake Trout in 3 Hours- Lake George Fishing in Mid-April

The Highliner hit the water this week and the trout fishing has been consistent along with a few salmon. Keep in mind that Lake George lake trout need to be 23 inches in length to keep. That would make this fish 5-7 years old with a life expectancy of 20 years. It is not unheard of to catch one in excess of 20 pounds. So keep in mind, if you'd like to catch one of the 20 plus pounders, it's a good idea to keep one or two for the table, and release the rest.

Sometimes it's the little things that count

Most of my blog reports focus on trout, salmon and bass fishing. Fishing for these three species provides me with great pleasure as well as my living, but truth be told one of my favorite types of fishing is panfishing, especially for crappie and bluegill . On lite tackle, these feisty little fish can give you plenty of fight. They also provide some of the tastiest table fare of any freshwater fish. Springtime crappie and bluegill fishing can be red hot if you find the right spot. It's also a great way to introduce a child to fishing. A light or ultra-light fishing rod and reel , spooled with four or six pound test, a casting bobber and a few tube and hair jigs is all you will need ot get started. Jigs ranging in size from 1/64th to ¼ oz are my favorites. A few of my favorite spots are backwater bays on Lake George, Saratoga Lake and the Mohawk River, but many lakes and ponds are home to these fish. What are you waiting for? Grab your gear and go have a crappie day of fishing!

Lake George fishing about to turn hot!!

With temps expected to rise into the mid sixties next week,the water temp should also rise a few degrees.This small change in water temps and the approaching moon phase should trigger the smelt run.This is a magical time of year to fish.The fish are concentrated along the shallow shorelines of the spawning brooks,they are feeding ravenously on the plentiful smelt and hit hard.Often when boated at this time their belly's are so full that they spit up a dozen or more smelt,something only a crazed fisherman can get excited over.Here are a couple of tip's i'll share with you.(1)locate the brooks with lot's of sea gull activity their on the smelt.(2)Work the deeper shelves of the shoreline by the brooks,but troll midway dowm with stickbaits,spoons and flies.(3)The most important one of all-HIRE A GOOD GUIDE!!Your odds go up ten fold.Hope to see you on the water,or better yet on board the "HIGHLINER"

Time to hang up your ice fishing gear and get out the spinning gear.We have already seen some good fishing in the local streams and brooks since Monday.We will be hitting the open water of lake George next week.Ice out is a great time to fish for lake George Salmon and Trout.Both species will migrate towards the mouths of smelt spawning brooks in anticipation of the smelt run.A good guide can put you on the right brook.This is a great time of year for those of you without downriggers on your boat.Trolling flatlines behind your boat with stickbaits,spoons and steamer flies should put fish in your boat and on your table.Don;t wait make your plans to get on the water this month.
