A lot of the guys have been e-mailing me asking what I do to consistently put fish in the boat day after day during these hot summer days. My answer is simple. Like a good boy scout, always be prepared. Have a plan before you leave the dock. Be set to fish whatever conditions the lake deals out when you stop to fish. You’ve been fishing since April now. Have you changed all lines? Sharpened your hooks? Checked your drags? Are downriggers all running the same ? Are lead lines set to go out if needed? Poles set to whirl as well as set for spooning and plugging? If you have to stop and change over gear every time you need to adapt to conditions, you’ll spend more time working on gear tand lots lets time fishing. That means fewer fishin the boat. Take a few hours and get prepared.
