The Olde Bryan Inn

Olde Bryan Inn is one of my longtime favorites! The cozy, rustic atmosphere makes every visit special, and their French onion soup is truly the best I’ve ever had. I’ve been coming here for years and can’t recommend them enough

I would never step foot in Olde Bryan Inn again after the experience we had. From the start, the staff seemed hesitant to seat us even though many tables were open, and only after going back and forth did they reluctantly offer us outdoor seating.

We ordered steak well-done, and the server suggested a butterfly cut so it wouldn’t be overcooked. When the food arrived, it was neither butterfly cut nor properly cooked—it was burnt, chewy, and nearly inedible. When we raised our concern, the manager came out and instead of apologizing (as any professional would), the first thing he said was, “Which one of you complained?” That alone set the wrong tone. He then offered to remove one steak and one dessert from the bill as if that was the solution, without any genuine acknowledgment of the poor service or food quality.

To make matters worse, our table was neglected in other ways—no bread was brought out until we asked multiple times, no shakers were provided, and the overall treatment we received was dismissive and disrespectful.

It was hard not to feel singled out. The difference in how we were treated compared to others dining around us felt discriminatory. I am not looking for free food—I can pay for my meal—but I do expect respect, fairness, and basic hospitality. Unfortunately, what we experienced instead was poor service, terrible food quality, and treatment that felt racially biased.

This was an unacceptable and disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
