Market Place Steakhouse & More *All major credit cards accepted* Winter Hours: Monday, Thursday - Sunday ~ 5pm to ....close Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesday Happy Hour Daily from 5p.m.-7p.m. **Tapas Menu every Thursday at the bar** **Live Music Every Saturday Night** The building, originally known as Bill Nadeau’s A&P Supermarket, is where Harry Maibe and his wife ran the City Market for many, many years. During those years Paul Duggan had a little table in front of the city market where he sold candy, magazines and newspapers. Often times the papers had not yet arrived and as he was fed up with anxious customers, he simply pointed to a small sign that read, “Not yet, don’t know…” Tom and Iva Reid converted the City market into The Market Place, which his son Billy and his wife Vicki successfully ran and as it has been known for many, many years. Recently it has been known as Michael Arthur’s Steakhouse and now has re-opened as Market Place Steakhouse & More, co-owned by Steve McCranels and Amy Ullrich. Steve and Amy first met each other in 1979 when they were teenagers working at the Silver Bay Association. They became very close and continued to see each other during summers for the next few years. Then due to various circumstances in life, they completely lost contact with each other for 28 years. Last August 2010, Amy was up at Silver Bay visiting from New Jersey and unexpectedly met up with Steve, who was then managing a different restaurant in Bolton Landing. They reconnected instantly and fall in love. A few months later they decided to buy a restaurant together and after months of hard work the Market Place and Steakhouse & More opened in July of 2011.

First the bad news ? noisy - not the place for a quiet dinner on Saturday night. Now the good news: Food -was excellent. Wide choice of appetizers, the two we had were great. The onion soup had a crusty piece of bread in it, rather unusual since the bread soaks up the soup. Caesar salad one of the better ones we have had. For entrees: 20 oz. prime rib was cooked to perfection one almost did not need a knife to cut it. Horseradish sauce though tasty was not needed. The natural taste of the beef needed nothing to improve its taste. Salmon, about ¾ lb. was also cooked to perfection. Sautéed Spinach was great as well as their special French Fries. Drinks were prepared well and the servers were on top of things in a crowded setting. Now the price: entrees were very reasonable and cocktail prices were lower than others in the area. Despite the noise we would definitely eat there again, but not possible on a Saturday.

Wow! The best steak I've had in years, and in all places the Lake George region (Bolton Landing). I cannot overstate the simplicity and wonderful tastes that Exec Chef Garylee (formerly of the Sagamore) musters up. My mignon could be cut with a fork and the baked potato, asparagus with lump crab were absolutely delightful. You are missing out on Bolton's new addition if you don't check this restaurant out soon!! Congrats to all
