Colonel Williams Resorts is a wonderful family resort. The resort is kept sparkling clean and the grounds are beautiful. My family returns year after year because there is no greater value in Lake George. The pools, kiddie playground and lovely atmosphere make this a wonderful family resort.

This July, 2009, was the 10th year that we have stayed at the Colonel Williams Resort. The Willmen family run on of the cleanest and modern motels in Lake George. Rooms are clean and up-to-date. The grounds are beautiful. The motel is about a mile from the village, so it is peaceful and quiet at night. The Willmen family are gracious hosts and very knowledgeable about the area.

I know this place has gotten some negative reviews. But I'm passing this review around to all the sites because - they are SO WRONG!!
I have stayed at Colonel Williams for over 15 years. And I just stayed here again with my family this month for 4 nights in a suite. Let me just say it is everything the positive reviews are saying. The resort is VERY family friendly. There are different size rooms for all types of needs - but only like 45 units so you feel like you are at a private resort. The rooms, pools and grounds are immaculate. The owners are very nice and accommodating - I think they have owned and operated it for some 30 years and you can tell they know what they are doing and take pride in their place. It's refreshing especially in these times to not only support a privately owned business but to see the care in which they run it - that is decades in the business right there. The people that complained about so many rules - well there are reasons for them or perhaps State Laws and Health Codes - would you want someone trashing your home? I don't think so... So, in an area where most places that are ON the lake haven't been updated since the 70s - Colonel Williams is one of the best places to stay even though it is not... I say read the positive reviews because these people had no other motive to write other then they really enjoyed themselves - the negative reviews had the motive to personally destroy a businesses reputation because they were probably acting like "you know whats"

I have to start that the property is lovely. The rest of the motels in Lake George looked booked up because because of the Firemans Parade, but this place was almost empty. The outside pool was closed but looked wonderful although it was too cold to use it. The inside pool was o.k. The hot tub was very small , barely enough for four people as its capacity states. If you do choose to go to this motel...... the "rules" state - no coolers allowed in rooms, no juice boxes for the kids, the indoor pool closes @ 8pm. We found ourselves taking our grandson to dinner after 8 pm just we could have some pool time, which is kind of late to eat for the little ones. The one thing that will cause me not to return to this place is that I felt like the management was always watching and waiting for someone to do something wrong. In the handout they give you when you check in , it states that children must be 8 or older for hot tub use....... Yet the management came bursting in the indoor pool area and chased 2 teenage girls out of the hot tub. He then went into the room marked "private". A little while later when we, "the adults" wanted to go in, the jets were not working? or got shut off? I suppose the management can do what they want--- but to me, it explains why there was "no vacancy" signs out on a lot of other motels , yet this one, there was plenty of vacancy for both the Friday and Saturday nights we were there.
