LAKE GEORGE, NY (March 2011) –– It started in Lake George, NY. Now it’s going to Las Vegas. Back in 2003, Jason Sherry attended a meeting hosted by the Village of Lake George where two Elvis Tribute Artists (impersonators) told the gathered crowd about a huge event held in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. “The Collingwood Elvis Festival,” they said “attracts over 30,000 Elvis fans to a small town just like Lake George. In a few years, we could be attracting that type of crowd to Lake George.”
While the LakeGeorge.com Elvis Festival (now in its eighth year of production) has not yet attracted 30,000 spectators, it has fast become one of the Lake George Region’s cornerstone events. The annual four-day event brings over 4,000 spectators to Lake George and the surrounding community. And with free and paid events taking place ...

LAKE GEORGE, NY (March 2, 2011): Adirondack Winery is proud to announce that four of its wines recently earned Silver medals at International Wine Competitions.
Adirondack Winery’s Pinot Noir was awarded a Silver Medal at the 2011 International Pinot Noir Shootout, which is held each year in Chicago. The Pinot Noir Shootout is a three month long competitive wine tasting, where a judging panel of about 40 Pinot Noir loving wine professionals taste approximately 300 different Pinot Noirs submitted by wineries from around the world. Needless to say, we are very pleased that our Pinot Noir stood strong among these wines, being awarded a Silver medal. This is the fourth medal our Pinot Noir has earned in the three years we’ve been making the wine. It also earned a Silver at the 2010 World Value Wine Challenge, Silver at the 2009 International Eastern Wine Competition, and a ...

The New York State Department Of Enviromental Conservation Warns Of Inconsistent Ice Conditions

The weight of snow has caused ice to sink slightly forcing water from below the ice up on to the surface. Water, in some places up to a foot deep, may refreeze resulting in alternating layers of ice and water all covered by a blanket of snow. The snow acts as an insulator preventing the water from refreezing completely even in very cold temperatures.
DEC has received numerous reports of snowmobiles and other vehicles getting stuck in the mixture of snow, slush, ice and water. Several snowmobiles and vehicles have broken through areas of thin ice.
