Producer adds Las Vegas Elvis Fest to Annual Schedule
LAKE GEORGE, NY (March 2011) –– It started in Lake George, NY. Now it’s going to Las Vegas. Back in 2003, Jason Sherry attended a meeting hosted by the Village of Lake George where two Elvis Tribute Artists (impersonators) told the gathered crowd about a huge event held in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. “The Collingwood Elvis Festival,” they said “attracts over 30,000 Elvis fans to a small town just like Lake George. In a few years, we could be attracting that type of crowd to Lake George.”
While the LakeGeorge.com Elvis Festival (now in its eighth year of production) has not yet attracted 30,000 spectators, it has fast become one of the Lake George Region’s cornerstone events. The annual four-day event brings over 4,000 spectators to Lake George and the surrounding community. And with free and paid events taking place at venues including the Lake George Forum, Shepard Park, Adirondack Brew Pub, Tiki Resort, Boardwalk Restaurant, King Neptune’s Pub and aboard several Lake George Steamboat Company vessels, the economic impact of the event affects the entire community.
Sherry’s company, Sherry Management, LLC took over the event from the group of Lake George area businesspersons who had been running it in time for the 2007 festival. “The group was getting worn out,” commented Sherry. “It’s hard to produce an event of this caliber year in and year out without a paid staff.”
After running the event successfully for a few years, the company set its site on expansion. “People kept asking us what other types of festivals we could produce. After months of deliberation we came up with the idea of producing similar Elvis Festivals in other locales around the country.” Their first Elvis venture outside of Lake George was the New England Elvis Festival which was first held in Manchester, New Hampshire in 2009. Since then, Sherry Management, LLC has added a new Elvis Festival to their schedule each year with the Pocono Mountains Elvis Festival being introduced in 2010 and the new Las Vegas Elvis Festival scheduled to be held for the first time this July. The event will be held at the legendary Las Vegas Hilton in the very room where Elvis performed during his sold out run in Las Vegas.
Unlike the other three Elvis Festivals, this festival is a co-production of Sherry Management, LLC and two partners, Ambassador Enterprises, Inc and John Stuart Productions, Inc. Together, Ambassador and Stuart produced an Elvis event called Heart of the King in Las Vegas in 2010. The Las Vegas Elvis Fest is an evolution of that event. “We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to use our knowledge of Elvis fans and experience working with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. to build on the success Heart of the King had last year,” said Sherry. “Las Vegas and Elvis are synonymous and with the three companies working together, we think this event could become the biggest Elvis event in the world.”
All Sherry Management, LLC events are licensed by Elvis Presley’s estate through the company Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. The estate allows the company to use trademarked terms such as Elvis Presley and King of Rock and Roll in its marketing and provides “official” photos of Elvis that can also be used. The estate helps its licensees make contact with Elvis Insiders (the people who knew Elvis), and Elvis Fan Clubs, and promotes licensed events through their website, www.Elvis.com.
Tickets for the 2011 LakeGeorge.com Elvis Festival and New England Elvis Festival are currently on sale.
