Hiking Anyone? Lake George is surrounded by Great Hiking Trails In The Adirondack Mountains

Prospect Mountain is the closest hike to LakeGeorge, and starts right in the village.  Heading north on Canada St., (the main street in Lake George) take a left onto Montcalm Street. At the end of this street is where the hiking path for Prospect Mountain begins.

Prospect Mountain is a 3 mile round trip hike. It is as difficult as it is very steep, not suitable for children under 4th grade.** The hike is near the route of the old trolley which serviced the Summit Hotel, a popular location for dinner dances enjoyed by the wealthy around the turn of the 19th century. The reward: an outstanding 100-mile view! (If you have people traveling with you who are unable to climb, they can take a car to the top and meet you for a picnic! To reach the ProspectMountain Highway, take Exit 21 and go 1 mile north. The entrance is on the left – open daily Memorial Day until late October)

Near Prospect Mountain is French Mountain, located on the Lake George RV Park premises. If you are interested in hiking and RV camping, this is your perfect vacation destination! Find excellent information on safety tips and regional hiking trails.

**Note: There are loads of great hiking trails in the Adirondack Mountains suitable for all ages and levels of experience. Kids love to hike, and there are plenty of trails that will be fun for them without taxing Mom and Dad’s energy and patience too much!
